What it teaches
The game, and the room it is played in
Knowing which hand beats which is about a tenth of what you need to sit down in a live $1/$2 game. The rest is procedure, position, and arithmetic you have to do quickly. This app teaches all three.
- A dealer who explains the hand as it happens. The coach speaks in the dealer's voice and works through the decision in front of you — what your hand is doing, what the pot is offering, what your stack depth means — in plain English rather than notation.
- Four coach modes. Full walkthrough talks through everything. Hints only nudges. Test me makes you commit to a decision first and then grades it. Off is just the game.
- Coaching that gets out of your way. As you demonstrate you have got something, the explanations shorten — and eventually the coach offers to step back entirely rather than keep repeating itself.
- A real rake. Ten percent to a $5 cap, plus a $1 jackpot drop, taken from every pot that sees a flop. Most poker apps quietly skip this. What the house takes is part of what the game costs, and a session that ignores it teaches you the wrong number.
- 18 lessons and 6 quizzes. Rules and mechanics, casino procedure and etiquette, betting, position, pot odds, and reading opponents — with progress tracked so you can see what you have actually covered.

Can I win real money?
No. Texas Holdem Tutor is a practice game. The chips have no value, there is nothing to cash out, and there is no way to deposit. It is built to get you ready for a table, not to be one.
Why does the game take a rake?
Because a real cardroom does, and leaving it out would teach you a game that does not exist. Ten percent to a $5 cap plus a $1 jackpot drop comes out of every pot that sees a flop — the same shape as a typical live $1/$2 game.
It matters more than it looks. The rake is why marginal pots are not worth contesting, and a practice game that hides it quietly makes loose play look profitable.
Can I turn the coaching off?
Yes, at any point. There are four modes — full walkthrough, hints only, test me, and off — and you can change between them whenever you like. The coach also shortens its own explanations as you demonstrate mastery, and will offer to step back on its own.
What does "Test me" do differently?
It reverses the order. Instead of advising you and then watching what you do, it makes you commit to fold, call or raise first, and then tells you whether that was right and why. It is the mode that shows you what you actually know rather than what you can follow.
Is it only Texas Hold'em?
Yes — 9-handed $1/$2 No-Limit Hold'em, the game you are most likely to find running in a live cardroom. Doing one game thoroughly is the point.
Where is my progress saved?
On your device only. The app makes no network calls, so saved games, lesson progress and quiz results stay in local storage on the phone and are never uploaded. Deleting the app deletes them, and we have no copy to restore.
Why is it rated 18+?
Apple rates any app depicting simulated gambling 18+, whether or not real money is involved. This one simulates a cardroom table, so it carries that rating.
